From the supplier: Insurance rating agencies are objecting to the General Accounting Office's findings that Weiss Research's rating abilities are superior to many other firms'. A.M. Best executives are particularly upset, saying that the GAO's report is seriously flawed. The report stated that Weiss usually predicted financial weakness in insurance companies eight months before Best did. Some rating agency sources said that they wait until structural realignments and other corporate procedures have taken affect before judging the company's financial health.
